New Delhi: The New Delhi District Legal Services Authority under the agies of Delhi State Legal Services Authority and National Legal Services Authority in pursuance of the celebration of Bharat ka Amrut Mahotsav, 75 years of Independence, launched Mobile Legal Aid Van from Patiala House Courts in New Delhi on Friday. The Legal Aid Van was flagged off by Sh. Dinesh Kumar Sharma, Ld. Principal District and Sessions Judge, Patiala House Court in the august presence Sh. Kanwaljeet Arora, Ld. Member Secretary, Delhi State Legal Services Authority and other Judicial Officers posted at Patiala House Courts.
The Legal Aid Van visited JJ. Cluster Colony behind Bhairo Mandir, Kali Bari Road cluster area and JJ Camp, Sanjay Camp Chanakya Puri, Arjun Camp Vasant Kunj North and Moti Lal Nehru Camp Kishangarh, where Sh. Sumeet Anand, Ld. Secretary New Delhi District Legal Services Authority apprised women, children and other persons about their entitlement to the right to free legal aid accompanied with Legal Aid Counsels of New Delhi District Legal Services Authority who distributed the pamphlets and information material about the Legal Services Authority and installed the banners of free legal aid.
Simultaneously, 7 help desks were set up throughout New Delhi District at Jharera Village, Delhi Cantt, Kishangarh village, Vasant village, Samalkha village, Rangpuri Pahadi, Moti Bagh Jhuggi and DUSIB Night Shelter behind Bangla Sahib where the Legal Aid Counsels of New Delhi District Legal Services Authority and Para Legal Volunteers disseminated information about right to free legal aid and issues such as domestic violence, POCSO, etc. Persons were also made aware of the 24×7 toll-free helpline number of Delhi State Legal Services Authority which is 1516. Information material of Delhi State Legal Services Authority was also distributed.
Simultaneously, Awareness Campaigns regarding the Importance of Performance of Fundamental Duties were conducted in 4 schools in New Delhi District, namely Government boys’ sr. Sec. School, Sagar Pur, New Delhi, Girls Secondary School, RK Puram and Atal Adarsh Vidyalaya, Chanakyapuri, where Legal Aid Counsels of New Delhi District Legal Services Authority visited and interacted with students, teachers and school staff.
