New Delhi: To observe the World Mental Health Day for creating awareness about mental fitness, Public Health Department of New Delhi Municipal Council ( NDMC ) organised an intensive Plog-Run Drive with morning walkers and Safai Sevak at inside and surrounding areas of Benches, Dustbins and entery gates of Nehru Park in Chanakyapuri, New Delhi today .
NDMC’s Medical Officer of Health – Dr. Ramesh Kumar informed that Plogging is an eco-friendly exercise through which people pick up trash while jogging or brisk walking as a way to clean up litter and also take care of their health.
Today Plogging drive carried out by hundreds of safai sevak, horticulture workers and morning walkers/joggers in Nehru Park early in the Morning and collected around 52 kg litter / garbage in which 35 kg plastic waste including polythene, wrappings, bottles, spoons etc were found.
All the plastic waste items have been deposited in the ” Plastic Lao, Mask Pao ” stall at Charkha Museum, Connaught Place in New Delhi .
On the occasion of World Mental Health Day, this Plogging drive ended with a motivational talk by Dr. Ramesh Kumar in Nehru Park on good mental health and physical health of human being for better performance in their personal and professional duties of life.
Dr Ramesh stressed upon the balance and maintenance of mind and body equilibrium by adopting meaningful habits in day to day activities. He also advised to all the Safai Sevaks to stop alcohol intake and cigarette / Biddi smoking for healthy body and relaxed mind.
He suggested the tips to prevent occupational health to safai sevak including ergonomics in which work area and work modified according to fit workers psychological and physiological aspect.
On the occasion, along with the area CMO- Dr Gunjan Sahai, SMO – Dr Vijay Patel , other official of Public Health Department, Safai Sewak, horticulture workers along with the volunteers and other visitors participated in the Plog-Run Drive with full enthusiasm to make Swachhata movement successful.
