AAP’s Amanatullah Khan wins from Okhla assembly seat; thanks everyone

New Delhi, February 8 The counting of votes for the Delhi Assembly elections has been completed, in which Aam Aadmi Party (AAP)’s current MLA Amanatullah Khan has won from Okhla assembly seat. He defeated Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) candidate Manish Chaudhary by 23,639 votes. Amanatullah Khan got a total of 88,943 votes, while BJP’s Manish Chaudhary came second with 65,304 votes. Shifa-ur-Rehman Khan, a candidate of Asaduddin Owaisi’s party AIMIM, contesting for the first time from this seat, got 39,558 votes.

This time the contest on Okhla seat was very interesting, because AIMIM had fielded Delhi riots accused Shifa-ur-Rehman in this election. This made the contest triangular, but ultimately Aam Aadmi Party retained this seat.

Talking to IANS after the victory, Amanatullah Khan said, “I am thankful to my people and the people of Okhla for trusting us. We are committed to solving their every problem and taking forward the development work. However, this is also a time of sadness for us because our government was not formed. Our big leaders lost the elections. The ruling party defeated our leaders using the system, but we will continue our work.” Let us tell you that after 27 years, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has made a strong comeback to power in Delhi. Till the time of writing the news, BJP had won 47 seats and was leading on 1 seat. Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) won 21 seats and was leading on 1 seat. Congress failed to open its account. AAP leader Arvind Kejriwal has lost from New Delhi seat and Manish Sisodia from Jangpura seat. However, Chief Minister Atishi has won the Kalkaji seat. Satyendra Jain has also lost the election. After the defeat, Kejriwal said – “We accept the defeat. Congratulations to BJP for the victory. People have given them majority. I hope they will live up to the expectations of the people.”
