NDMC’s Women Art Workshop ‘Shakti’ Culminates with Grand Exhibition at Triveni Kala Sangam,

New Delhi, March 31, 2026.The five-day Women Art Workshop ‘Shakti’, a vibrant celebration of women’s creativity in Indian art and culture, organized by the New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC) in collaboration with Triveni Kala Sangam, culminated today with a special exhibition showcasing remarkable artworks created during the workshop.

Held from March 27 to 31, 2026 at Triveni Kala Sangam, the workshop brought together 20 eminent women artists from across the country, who beautifully expressed the essence of ‘Shakti’—symbolizing feminine power, resilience, and creativity—through diverse artistic forms.

On the concluding day, Shri Kuljeet Singh Chahal, Vice-Chairperson, NDMC, inaugurated the exhibition and felicitated the participating artists in recognition of their outstanding contributions and artistic excellence. The event was graced by distinguished artists including Shri Rameshwar Broota, Shri Amitabh Das, Shri Amar Ji among others.

Addressing the gathering, Shri Chahal emphasized that art has always been a powerful medium for expressing identity, resistance, and social transformation. He noted that “Shakti: Celebrating Women in Indian Culture and Society” aims to explore and visually interpret the evolving role of women in India—past, present, and future—through contemporary artistic practices.

He further highlighted that the workshop provided a meaningful platform for women artists to reflect on themes such as identity, agency, equality, resilience, and self-expression, blending traditional symbolism with modern perspectives.

Shri Chahal said that the initiative reflects a progressive vision that recognizes women not merely as recipients of development, but as dynamic drivers of cultural, social, and economic transformation. By converging diverse artistic voices, the exhibition becomes a powerful platform to celebrate the richness and plurality of women’s experiences, while fostering meaningful dialogue on empowerment, inclusion, and change.

Expressing his delight, Shri Kuljeet Singh Chahal announced that the ‘Shakti’ workshop will now be institutionalized as part of NDMC’s Annual Cultural Programme. He also announced the NDMC’s Sculpture  Park soon become reality at Nehru Park.NDMC start soon Lifetime achievement award in the field of Art and Culture.

He stated that this initiative will be organized every year, reinforcing NDMC’s commitment to promoting art, culture, and women’s empowerment, while offering a sustained platform for women artists to showcase their talent and narrative.

He further said that this Woman Art workshop – “Shakti” stands as a vibrant testament to creative expression—aimed at nurturing artistic excellence, strengthening solidarity among women artists, and making a significant contribution to the evolving cultural narrative on women’s empowerment in India.

The workshop featured participation from prominent artists including Ms. Vasundhara Tewari Broota, Ms. Kanchan Chander, Ms. Seema Kohli, Ms. Bula Bhattacharya, Ms. Sangeeta Murthy, Ms. Tara Sharma, Ms. Indu Tripathi, Ms. Vijaya Ved, Ms. Suryasnata Mohanti, Ms. Anita Tanwar, Ms. Reena Singh, Ms. Kanchan Prakash, Ms. Sweta Rai, Ms. Shampa Bhattacharjee, Ms. Sangeeta Singh, Ms. Surabhi Shubham, Ms. Moitreyi Kumar, Ms. Meenakshi Jha Manarji, Ms. Anjum Khan, and Ms. Sumita Kathuria. Their collective presence reflected the richness, diversity, and dynamism of contemporary Indian art.

The concluding ceremony witnessed enthusiastic participation from art students, eminent artists, and art enthusiasts. It was also attended by Shri Amar Shridharani, Director, Triveni Kala Sangam; Shri Harshwardhan, NDMC Advisor (Art & Culture); Ms. Kritika Chaudhary, Director (Art & Culture), NDMC; along with senior NDMC officials and other distinguished guests.
