NEW DELHI: Delhi Police sent 82-year-old Bilkis Dadi, who became the face of anti-CAA protest at Shaheen Bagh, back soon after reaching the Singhu border. Bilkis Dadi arrived at the Singhu border to offer her support to the protesting farmers. DCP, Outer North Gaurav Sharma said, “Bilkis Dadi was repatriated from the Singhu border. She was neither detained nor arrested.”
Bilkis Dadi, who became a popular face during the Shaheen Bagh protests, was included in Time magazine’s list of the world’s top 100 most influential celebrities.
Thousands of farmers in Punjab and Haryana are opposing three agricultural laws passed by Parliament in September. They are camping in and around Delhi. Farmers are demanding the repeal of these laws.
Meanwhile, Union Agriculture Minister Narendra Singh Tomar and Consumer Affairs Minister Piyush Goyal led a government delegation in the much-awaited talks with more than 30 farmer unions on the sixth day of protests on Tuesday.
