Hyderabad: Colonel B. B., who was martyred in a clash with the Chinese army on Monday night in East Ladakh. Santosh Babu’s mother said that she was proud that her son made the supreme sacrifice for the sake of the country. The commanding officer Santosh Babu was a resident of Suryapet district of Telangana. Babu and two other Indian soldiers were martyred in the skirmish between the Indian and Chinese forces in the Galvan Valley. The armies of both countries have been face to face along the Line of Actual Control (LAC) for some time.
Santosh Babu’s mother Manjula said, “I am sad as well as proud. My son has sacrificed his life for the country. I am sad as a mother. He was my only son. “
Santosh is survived by his wife, nine-year-old daughter and four-year-old son.
On Tuesday afternoon, hearing the news of the son’s martyrdom, his parents could not believe and were shocked.
Manjula said, “Our daughter-in-law is in Delhi and she was informed last night. We got the news in the afternoon. “
Santosh’s father Upendra is a retired bank officer. He said, “We were not ready to believe, but were told that this was true.” We have lost our son. “
He recalled that Santosh had joined Sainik School in the sixth grade. He said, I wanted to serve in the army, but I could not achieve this goal. Me fulfilled my dream through my son. He was very talented and received many promotions in 15 years of service.
Santosh was in the 16 Bihar Regiment and was posted on the Indo-China border for the last year and a half. He had told his parents that he would be shifted to Hyderabad soon, but the process was delayed due to the situation arising out of Kovid-19.
Manjula said, “I last spoke to him on Sunday night. I asked him about the news of the two armies coming back after talking. He told me that I should not believe these news, because the conversation is different and the ground reality is different. He said that the situation was serious. I told him to take care of it. “
