New Delhi| Prime Minister Narendra Modi Wednesday congratulated Trinamool Congress supremo Mamata Banerjee for taking the oath of Chief Minister of West Bengal for the third consecutive time.
The Prime Minister said in a tweet, Congratulations to Mamata Didi on taking oath as Chief Minister of West Bengal.
Banerjee took oath as Chief Minister on Wednesday amid rising reports of Covid and reports of violence in some parts of the state.
Banerjee swore in her trademark white saree and shawls in Bengali.
The oath-taking ceremony took place in the throne room at the Raj Bhavan in Kolkata with Covid Protocol.
The remaining members of the Cabinet and the Council of Ministers will be sworn in on 9 May, the day of Rabindranath Tagore’s birth anniversary.
In the recently concluded elections, the Trinamool Congress won 213 out of 292 seats, while the BJP came second in the state with 77 seats.
