Bak arrived in Tokyo to take stock of Olympic preparations

TOKYO| International Olympic Committee (IOC) President Thomas Bak arrived in Japan on Sunday on a four-day tour. During his visit, Bak will take stock of preparations for the Tokyo Olympics, along with Japanese Prime Minister Yoshihide Suga and other top officials. The Tokyo 2020 Organizing Committee announced on Friday that Baek will deliver the Olympic order to former Prime Minister Shinzo Abe at the Olympic Museum in Japan on Monday afternoon.

According to the Kyodo News Agency report, Baek will meet the current Prime Minister Suga on Monday. He then meets Tokyo Governor Yuriko Koike and then discusses with the organizing committee officials.

Later he will also address a joint press conference with Tokyo 2020 President Yoshiro Mori.

According to the organizers, the IOC President will visit the Olympic Village on Tuesday afternoon and then visit the Olympic Stadium.

The Tokyo Olympic Games were scheduled to be held in July August this year but were postponed until next year due to the coronavirus. Now it will be held from 23 July to 8 August next year.

For the last few months, experts are worried about whether these games can be conducted without vaccine.

However, Bak has already said that he does not think any country will withdraw from the Olympics due to the Corona epidemic.
