Washington| US President Joe Biden raised concerns over Iran’s seriousness in Vienna on Friday.
When asked at the White House whether he felt Iran was serious about the ongoing negotiations in Vienna, Biden responded, according to reports in Xinhua, “Yes. But how serious they are and what they are willing to do, That’s a different issue. ”
White House press secretary Jane Saki later reported in a daily press briefing that there had been some progress in the previous weeks’ talks.
Meanwhile, he reiterated that the United States would be “ready to lift sanctions necessary for JCPOA compliance only when Iran is ready to withdraw its nuclear program to its JCPOA status.”
The fourth round of talks on the possible withdrawal of the Iran nuclear deal began in Vienna on Friday.
A senior State Department official said Thursday that the US and Iran could enter into a mutual agreement to comply with the Iran nuclear deal in the coming weeks if Tehran makes a “political decision.”
Iranian President Hassan Rouhani said on Wednesday that the United States knows it must return to law and accept its obligations related to the nuclear deal.
