New Delhi District has solved a blind double murder case within 12 hours and has arrested Md. Ateeque s/o Shakil Ahmed r/o Village: Taran, Police Station: Jokihat, District: Araria, Bihar.
On 22.03.2022, a PCR call was received at PS Tughlak Road wherein the caller informed that he saw two dead bodies in a drain located opposite India International Centre, Lodhi Estate. Immediately, the police swung into action and reached at the spot. Md. Ashab s/o Shahabuddin met at the spot. On enquiry, Md. Ashab stated that on 21.03.2022, his aunt informed him that his cousins namely Khurshid and Sajjad r/o Kotla are missing from last 3-4 days. Subsequently, Md. Ashab went to Kotla, where he met Md. Ateeque and Alauddin, roommates of his cousins. He enquired about his cousins, but Md. Ateeque and Alauddin did not give any satisfactory reply. On his threatening to inform police, Ateeque took him to the scene of crime. Consequently, both dead bodies were recovered. Accordingly, a case vide FIR No. 49/22, u/s 302/201 IPC was registered at PS Tughlak Road, New Delhi and investigation of the case was taken up.
The case was entrusted to Inspr. Satyender Singh, PS Tughlak Road. District Crime team & experts from the FSL, Rohini were called at the spot. During investigation, the CCTV footages of nearby areas of scene of crime were obtained. On analysis of CCTV footages, it was found that on 18.03.22, at about 17:53 hrs, three persons visited the spot in an auto-rickshaw. Two of them entered inside the drain, while the third person waited outside. After about 5 mins, the third person also entered inside the drain and came out after a few minutes. He then covered the drain with the drain lid and fled away from the spot. The third person was identified as Md. Ateeque s/o Shakil Ahmed, roommate of the deceased persons. Md. Ateeque was taken into custody and on sustained interrogation, he confessed to the crime. He further disclosed that after commission of crime, he again visited the spot for destruction of evidence. Accused is being further interrogated.
Accused profile: Md. Ateeque s/o Shakil Ahmed r/o Village: Taran, Police Station: Jokihat, District: Araria, Bihar, Age – 23 years. The accused works as daily wage labourer. The accused is previously involved in FIR No. 416/16, u/s 25/54/59 Arms Act, PS Sarita Vihar.
