BRS candidate said, I will commit suicide if I lose the election

Hyderabad, Nov 28 On Tuesday, the last day of campaigning for the Telangana Assembly elections, a candidate of the ruling Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) created a stir by saying that if he lost the elections, he would commit suicide along with his family.

Huzurabad constituency candidate P Kaushik Reddy told voters at an election rally that if he wins there will be a victory procession, but if he loses, there will be a funeral procession on December 4.

Kaushik Reddy, who was present with his wife and daughter, told the people that if they wanted to see him commit suicide by hanging, that was his wish.

“It’s up to you what you want. If you don’t vote for me, you will see our dead bodies,” he said.

Kaushik Reddy is also a member of the Telangana Legislative Council. He appealed to the people to give him a chance by electing him to the Assembly in the November 30 elections. Kaushik Reddy is contesting against sitting BJP MLA and former minister Eatala Rajendra and Congress candidate Vodithala Pranab.

Kaushik Reddy had lost the 2018 election from the same constituency to Congress candidate Rajendra, who was then elected on a TRS (now BRS) ticket.

When Rajendra joined the BJP in 2021 and quit as MLA to contest the by-election, Kaushik Reddy left the Congress to join BRS in the hope of securing the party ticket.

However, BRS had fielded G Srinivas Yadav in the by-election. Rajendra retained the seat with over 23,000 votes. BRS later nominated Kaushik Reddy to the Legislative Council. However, the ruling party fielded him to take on Rajendra.

The BJP MLA is also contesting against BRS president and Chief Minister KCR in the Gajwel constituency. Elections for the 119-member assembly are to be held on November 30. Counting of votes will take place on December 3.
