CM Arvind Kejriwal visits the site of Gokulpuri fire incident; assures victim of all support

NEW DELHI: Chief Minister Shri Arvind Kejriwal personally visited the site of the Gokulpuri fire incident. He assured victims of all possible support from the end of the government. The Delhi Government will ensure immediate compensation for all victims; and will support every family who has lost an adult with 10 lac, 5 lac per death of a child and 25 thousand for every Jhuggi. The CM stated — I am your son, your brother and I will support you no matter what; Delhi Government will provide financial assistance to every victim. We can’t make up for your agony but will provide financial assistance to every family who has lost a loved one. Underprivileged families face a hoard of difficulties in setting up a jhuggi; very painful to see someone die in such circumstances.
A drastic fire mishap took place in Gokulpuri late last night. Unfortunately 7 lives were lost and several jhuggis were destroyed in the incident. After learning about the incident, Chief Minister Shri Arvind Kejriwal immediately left for the spot with his team. He met with affected families and consoled the grieving families.
Chief Minister Shri Arvind Kejriwal reached Gokulpuri at around 2 pm to meet the families of the victims of the arson.  During this, high ranking officials of the Delhi Government were also with him.  On getting information about the arrival of the Chief Minister at the site of the incident, a large number of people from the surrounding area also reached there. Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal climbed on the roof of his car after a large number of people gathered around and the crowd increased, so that he could address all the people and address them.  Standing on the roof of the car, the CM addressed the crowd present there and assured all possible help to the families of the victims.
Chief Minister Shri Arvind Kejriwal, after meeting the families of the victims of the fire mishap in Gokulpuri, said “I learnt about the fire incident. Due to the fire, many jhuggis here have been destroyed and seven people have also lost their lives unfortunately.  I offer my deepest condolences to all the victims’ families.  I am very sad that the homes of so many people got burnt in the arson.  A poor man builds his jhuggi with great difficulty.  It is very sad if someone dies in this circumstance.  I pray to God to give peace to those who have died.”
He added, “we cannot compensate for your loss, but the people who have died will be given financial help. The families of adults who have died will be given financial assistance of Rs 10 lakh each by the Delhi government and financial assistance of Rs 5 lakh each will be given to the families of children who have died.  At the same time, 25-25 thousand rupees will be given by the Delhi government to the families of those whose jhuggis have been burnt.  We will try to release the amount as soon as possible in a day or two so that the families of the victims can get immediate relief.”
CM Shri Arvind Kejriwal took to Twitter to say,”The fire mishap that took place at Gokulpuri is very unfortunate. I reached the spot and met the victims, lots of lives and homes have been lost today. The Delhi Government will give Rs 10 lakh to the families of the deceased, Rs 5 lakh to the families of the deceased children and Rs 25,000 to those whose houses have been burnt.”
