Communal Harmony on Display: Delhi’s Qudsia Bagh Mosque organizes Roza Iftar party, Hindu-Muslim, Christian & Sikhs gather together

New Delhi: Delhi’s Qudsia Bagh Mosque Imam Shakeel Ahmed organizes Roza Iftar party every year in the mosque, in which people of all religions participate.

This mosque is a historical mosque of Delhi which is about 400 years old. Built around 1748 by Qudsia Begum, wife of Muhammad Shah “rangeela”. The surrounding garden was huge and was very close to river Yamuna. Several other structures such as turrets and enclosures were destroyed during the mutiny.

Imam Shakeel Ahmed of the mosque said that he has maintained the culture of Delhi, the Ganga Jamuna tahazeeb. In his event, people of all religions, like Hindu, Muslim, Sikh, and Christian, come to the Iftar party.

Ever since the Modi government came to power in India, organizing Iftar parties in Delhi has almost stopped, but Imam Saheb of Qudsia Bagh Masjid has continued this tradition.

During the days of Ramzan, people of all religions came and became a part of the Iftar party Jaswinder Singh Malasia  Chairman  Akali Dal, Master Tara Singh Group, is carrying forward the tradition of this Iftar party as a legacy of the last two generations. He and all the dignitaries present in the mosque believe that Iftar party has an important role in maintaining mutual brotherhood and Ganga-Jamuna culture in India.
