DUSU Election: Students demand live streaming of strong room, ask DU to share link

New Delhi, September 27 . As voting for Delhi University Students Union (DUSU) elections is over, students have started raising questions about its process. Students are also talking about monitoring the counting of votes. Student organizations say that after voting, the live link of the place where the voting machines are kept should be given to the student organizations. This will increase transparency.

NSUI has raised the demand for live streaming of the strong room. The student organization says that this demand is especially in the context of storage and maintenance of EVMs (Electronic Voting Machines). NSUI says, “We demand that the Delhi University administration and the Chief Election Officer of DUSU provide us the live streaming link of the strong room where EVMs are being kept. This will ensure transparency and fairness in the counting process.”

After the voting ended on Friday night, the National Students Union of India (NSUI) alleged serious irregularities in the voting process during the DUSU elections. NSUI National President Varun Chaudhary said after the election that there have been many incidents where voting started late in many colleges, the voting process was very slow at many centers. Chaudhary says that this has raised doubts about the fairness of the election.

Expressing its views after the voting, the NSUI said, “We had already told that the Delhi University administration is working under the pressure of Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). Today’s events have further strengthened our apprehensions. Deliberate delay in the voting process and slow voting system clearly indicate a conspiracy to benefit ABVP.”

The NSUI said that it is committed to the protection of the democratic rights of the students and will not tolerate any kind of rigging in the election process. The organisation has demanded immediate action from the authorities after the voting so that there is no further disturbance and the votes of the students can be respected.
