New Delhi: Continuing the sustained drive against Cyber fraudsters in line with directions of senior officers, police station Cyber North has busted a gang and arrested five cyber cheats namely 1). Deepak @ Mama, 2). Aniket, 3). Sandeep, 4). Avnendra & 5). Puspendra. The accused would dupe hundreds of unsuspected youths on the pretext of offering jobs in private airlines. The police team in an operation spanning two weeks finally zeroed in the location of accused persons in a flat in Noida and with their arrests recovered 57 SIM cards, 25 mobile phones, 33 debit cards, 04 Wi-Fi routers and fake job offer letters. 13 bank accounts used to transfer money were also identified and are being scrutinised.
A complaint from Shri Arjun Singh Rana r/o Civil Lines, Delhi was received in PS Cyber North through National Cyber Crime Reporting Portal (NCRP) wherein the complainant alleged that he received a call from a person identified himself as Sourav and informed that his resume had been selected for Computer Operator Job in Indigo Airlines. Thereafter, he was made to talk with another person impersonating as HR manager and his tele-interview was conducted on mobile phone. After his interview, he was directed to deposit Rs. 14,225/- in a bank account for uniform fee, salary Account activation fee, passport fee etc. Following this inducement, the complainant deposited Rs 14,225/- in a bank account provided by the accused. After some time, when the complainant persisted for job offer, he was informed that due to some internal emergency, the company had stopped hiring and when the complainant asked to return his money, the accused switched off his mobile phone. On the basis of complaint, a Case vide FIR No. 19/2022 dated 30.03.2022, u/s 420 IPC was registered at PS Cyber North District and investigation was carried out.
A dedicated team of Police Station Cyber North, comprising of SI Ranjeet Chaudhary, SI Rohit Saraswat, SI Guman, HC Pankaj Bansal, HC Mahesh, Ct Kaluram, Ct Naveen, Ct Akash, Ct Mahender and Ct Bijender launched investigation, under the close supervision of Inspr. Pawan Tomar, SHO/PS Cyber North through money trail and technical analysis of call records linked to the offence.
Technical analysis suggested the location of generating calls from Noida, Uttar Pradesh. Another team was also dispatched at the location to develop human intelligence. Sustained efforts of police team were fructified on 08.04.2022 with the arrests of accused persons namely 1). Deepak @ Abhishek Pratap @ Mama, age- 35 years, 2). Aniket Kumar @ Ketan, age- 24 years, 3). Sandeep Kumar, age-27 years, 4). Avnendra Singh, age-20 years and 5). Pushpender Kumar, age-25 years.
During investigation, 7 Laptops, 25 Mobile phones, 57 SIM Cards, 02 Tabs, 04 Wi-fi Routers/Dongles, 33 Debit Cards, 13 Bank Accounts were recovered. Also several fake job offer letters, 03 Aadhar Cards, 01 Voter ID, 04 UPI QR Code, 02 motorcycles & 01 Scooty recovered on the instance of arrested accused persons.
The accused Deepak @ Mama, Aniket, Sandeep, Avnendra & Puspendra all are residents of Uttar Pradesh and came to Noida for search of Job. It was revealed that one of the accused persons namely Pushpender was cheated through similar modus operandi few years ago. Therefore, he along with other accused persons hatched a plan to dupe job aspirants in the same manner to earn quick money.
Accused persons would collect Data of job aspirants from Monster.com and would call job aspirants for jobs in various Airlines based on their qualifications and experience. Fake tele-interviews were conducted on phones after which forged appointment letters were also transmitted to victims. Money in lieu of fee for uniform, opening of salary account, passport, security etc. were asked from victims on different pretexts in different bank accounts.

- Pushpender Kumar, r/o Kaimganj District, Farrukhabad, Uttar Pradesh age-25 years.

- 57 SIM Cards.
- 02 Tabs, including one Apple.
- 04 Wi-fi Dongle/Router.
- Several forged job offer letters, Aadhar Cards & Voter IDs.
- 13 Bank Accounts.
- 33 Debit Cards.
- 4 UPI QR Codes.
- 02 Motorcycles & 01 Scooty.
Further investigation of the case is in progress and efforts are being made to link recovered mobile phones/SIM cards and bank accounts with other victims.
