New Delhi: To run the India Islamic Cultural Centre (IICC) smoothly without any controversy and politics, there is a need for a non-political and non-controversial person. Addressing a gathering at the India Habitat Centre, former Secretary of the Government of India and IICC presidential candidate Afzal Amanullah said that the IICC has long become a hub of politics. The office-bearers of the Centre are so engrossed in their personal interests that they no longer care about society and the country.
Mr. Afzal Amanullah stated that after serving for forty years, he has now dedicated his life to the country and society. He emphasized the need for a full-time president to elevate the IICC to new heights. This full-time person should not be short of time and should have the passion to work in the interest of society. Mr. Amanullah said that the IICC should be in a position to lead the community, but due to weak and incompetent leadership, the India Islamic Cultural Centre is currently in a state of disrepair.
Dr M Rahmatullah, spokesperson for Team Afzal Amanullah and Board of Trustees (BOT) candidate, said that the IICC needs strong leadership to take the Centre to great heights. Senior journalist and academician Dr M Rahmatullah mentioned that not only has the IICC remained stagnant for the past twenty years, but its reputation has also declined due to internal conflicts. He added that only competent, experienced, highly educated, and honest leadership can restore the lost glory of the IICC.
Addressing the gathering, Dr. Anup Kumar Srivastava, a veteran life member of the Centre and former IRS officer, said that the IICC office-bearers consider themselves to be emperors. There are no facilities available for the members here. Dr. Anup Srivastava stated that the Indian Islamic culture should have been promoted worldwide through this Centre, but the office-bearers are busy serving their own interests, leading to the Centre’s deteriorating condition.
Badruddin Khan, Kamal Farooqui, Athar Zeya, Sikandar Hayat Khan, Suhail Raft, Dr. Parvez Hayat, and other members of Team Afzal Amanullah also addressed the gathering and urged the voters present to ensure a resounding victory for Team Afzal Amanullah in the interest of the India Islamic Cultural Centre
