New Delhi, 1st March:Lieutenant Governor, Delhi – Shri Vinai Kumar Saxena today inaugurated the 2-day Flower Festival organised by New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC) at Central Park, Connaught Place, New Delhi. NDMC Chairman – Shri Keshav Chandra and Council Member – Shri Anil Valmiki were present on the occasion.
LG- Delhi, Shri Vinai Kumar Saxena said that it was his dream to make Delhi a City of Flowers and in the last two and a half years, sustained efforts by multiple agencies, particularly the NDMC, were made that have now begun showing great results. “I am confident that we will soon succeed in making Delhi a City of flowers,” he said. These efforts have not only been praised by the people from all over the country but also by the ambassadors and diplomats stationed here, he said, while lauding the NDMC for enhancing the aesthetics of the city.
After inaugurating the NDMC Flower Festival, the LG Delhi said that after this two-day exhibition, the flower pots and floral artworks displayed here should be placed at various intersections, roundabouts and roadsides of the New Delhi area so that people passing by can also experience the aesthetic appeal.
The Flower Festival is open for all and entry will be free where the flower lovers can enjoy the live show of blooming nature and feel the beauty of the flowers.
NDMC is organizing this Flower Festival with 36 different varieties of flowers in more than 10,000 potted plants which are displayed in 18 sections. The main attraction of the NDMC Flower Festival will be the Group of Flowering potted plants of different seasonal like Dahlia, Petunia, Pansy, Salvia, Marry Gold etc.
NDMC Flower Festival also includes the Floral Figures of Animal / Birds, Colourful Floral Boards, Tray Gardens, Big Size Hanging Baskets, Terrarium, Flower arrangement like Ikebana, Eastern & Western style. The park will welcome all with scintillating floral structures which includes Pyramid, Heart Shape, Selfie Points, Conical Floral Structure, Floral Cylinder etc. In the centre of the park there will be a musical fountain with colourful lighting in the evening.
Praising the gardeners of NDMC, Shri Saxena stated that the NDMC team is very hard working and the gardeners have magic in their hands and other greening agencies of Delhi should learn from them.
“We will try to coordinate with other departments of Delhi to replicate this effort,” he added. He also appealed to the people of Delhi to plant flowers in their homes.
Shri Saxena appreciated the efforts of NDMC to organise different events of flowers like Tulip Festival, Rose Festival and Flower Festival in which people not only from Delhi but also from nearby cities visit flowering sites in the New Delhi area and this is the true recognition of NDMC’s efforts.
In his welcome address, NDMC Chairman, Shri Keshav Chandra said that under the guidance of LG Delhi, Shri Saxena, NDMC is making every possible effort to make New Delhi a clean, beautiful and green city.
Every effort will be made with skills and expertise to make the vision of making Delhi a city of flowers, a reality and this dream will be realised as soon as possible.
Shri Chandra assured that we are committed to make New Delhi a beautiful city in accordance with world-class benchmarks. He also assured that we will try to spread the greenery and beauty of flowers like the gardens of New Delhi to the streets, intersections, roundabouts and other places of New Delhi. So that every person who passes through New Delhi feel the beauty of our city.
To continue the concept of providing colour and vibrancy in its area, NDMC is organizing “Flower Festival” at Central Park, Connaught Place on 1st – 2nd March 2025 for the joy and happiness of the citizens.
NDMC appealed to the people to come and enjoy the fragrance and beauty of various type of flowers in this spring season and they can also purchase the horticulture items from various stalls of Nursery Plants, Bonsai, Machinery, Hydroponics, Cactus & Succulent and Herbal Plants etc. The citizens can also buy the seeds of the different varieties of the flowers, hanging material, different types of pots, fertilizers, and flower decorative items from the stalls in the Flower Festival.
