Lowest 1.96 lakh Covid cases in India since April 14, 3,511 people killed in 24 hours

New Delhi| India’s coronavirus cases have fallen below the 2 lakh mark for the first time since April 14. The Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare said that 1,96,427 new Covid cases were registered in the country on Tuesday and 3,511 people died.

On 14 April, India registered 2,00,739 cases. This is the first time since April 14 that cases have gone below the two lakh mark.

On Monday, India crossed the three lakh death toll due to coronavirus infection. In this way, India became the third country in the world after America and Brazil to cross three lakh deaths.

The total number of Covid 19 cases in India now stands at 2,69,48,874, with 25,86,782 active cases and 3,07,231 deaths so far.

More than 50,000 deaths have been recorded in India in the last 13 days.

According to the Ministry of Health, a total of 3,26,850 people have been discharged in the last 24 hours, of which 2,40,54,861 people have so far recovered from Kovid.

The Ministry of Health said that a total of 19,85,38,999 people have been vaccinated in the country so far, of which 24,40,236 have been vaccinated in the last 24 hours.

According to the Indian Council of Medical Research, 33,25,94,176 samples have been tested for Covid 19 till 24 May. Of these, 20,58,112 samples were examined on Monday.

India recorded a record number of deaths due to Kovid with 4,529 deaths last Wednesday, the highest number of deaths due to Covid infection in any country since the outbreak of coronavirus in Wuhan, China in December 2019.

Earlier, on January 12, the number crossed 4,468 deaths in the US and on April 6 in Brazil, 4,211 deaths. These three are most affected by the epidemic. Now, India lags behind the US and Brazil with the most deaths due to Kovid 19.

Fresh Covid cases fell below the three million marks for the first time on May 17 after battling Corona’s second wave for weeks, touching a record high of 4,14,188 on 7 May.
