Mahakumbh Nagar, February 19 Mahakumbh 2025 has become not just a spiritual ritual but a mass movement of cleanliness and environmental protection. Namami Gange Mission has activated 10 sewage treatment plants (STPs) to maintain the purity and sanctity of Ganga, while work is going on at a fast pace on three new STPs in Salori, Rasulabad and Naini. 37 drains have been completely tapped and treated, ensuring the cleanliness of Ganga and Yamuna.
For the convenience of the devotees and the cleanliness of the fair area, 12,000 FRP toilets, 16,100 prefabricated steel toilets, 20,000 community urinals and 20,000 garbage bins have been installed. 37.75 lakh liner bags are being used for solid waste management, ensuring efficient disposal of waste.
1,500 trained ‘Ganga Sevadoot’ are making devotees aware about cleanliness and Ganga conservation in the fair area. Cleanliness is being made a mass movement through street plays, poster campaigns and public dialogue.
Namami Gange’s communication head Najeeb Ahsan said that the biodiversity, cleanliness efforts and ecology of Ganga are being presented in an interesting way through modern techniques in the Namami Gange pavilion. The interactive biodiversity tunnel is showing the world of aquatic life of Ganga, while the digital exhibition is telling the success stories of Ganga cleanliness campaigns.
Real-time data of water level and quality of Ganga, Yamuna and tributary rivers is being displayed on the Prayag stage. Sewage treatment model, riverfront development and replica of Gangetic dolphin are inspiring devotees towards environmental conservation.
The new ghats built under the Namami Gange Mission are equipped with eco-friendly technologies and solar lighting, modern changing rooms and seating arrangements. Cleanliness drives are being carried out regularly on the ghats, which maintains the uninterrupted flow and purity of the Ganga.
Under the ‘Paint My City’ campaign, the walls and public spaces of Prayagraj are decorated with vibrant art and messages of environmental protection. This initiative is deeply connecting cleanliness and cultural awareness.
In Maha Kumbh 2025, the river ghats are being cleaned with the help of Ganga Task Force, voluntary organizations and devotees. Special attention is being given to waste management, water purification and public awareness, so that the Ganga always remains clean and uninterrupted.
