Mumbai | A man has been arrested for raping and brutalizing a 30-year-old woman in Mumbai late on Thursday night. The police gave this information on Friday. According to the police, after raping the woman in the Khirani Road area of Sakinaka, the accused crossed all limits of cruelty before fleeing.
The accused has been identified as Madhu Chavan, 45, a local, and is being questioned in connection with the cowardly crime, said Balwant Deshmukh, senior police inspector of Sakinaka police station.
The victim was taken to BMC’s Rajawadi Hospital in a critical condition, but Deshmukh refused to comment on her health condition, saying “she is under treatment”.
Top police officials rushed to the spot to conduct a probe to nab others involved in the crime that began on Friday on the eve of the state’s biggest festival, Ganeshotsav.
