New Delhi: Under Swachh Sarvekshan 2021, New Delhi Municipal council (NDMC) has been awarded 1st ranking for being cleanest city in country in the category of 1-3 lakh population. NDMC has also been adjudged as 5 Star garbage free city and water plus certified category defined by Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs MoHUA. All this has placed NDMC as Platinum City (Divya) in Prerak DAUUR Samman.
Hon’ble President of India Shri Ram Nath Kovind distributed awards in the presence of Shri Hardeep Singh Puri, Union Minister, Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs Govt. of India and Shri Kaushal Kishore Minister of State, Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs Govt. of India & Chief Ministers, Mayors, dignitaries from various cities across the Country. The award was received from NDMC led by Chairman – Shri Dharmendra along with Secretary – NDMC, Smt Isha Khosla, MoH Dr. Ramesh Kumar and CMO – Dr. Shakuntala.
Swachh Survekshan is the world’s largest cleanliness survey carried out in India with vision of Hon’ble Prime Minsiter Shri Narender Modi to make Garbage free India under Swachh Bharat Mission.
It started in 2016 where only 73 cities participated and now Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs (MoHUA), Government of India has declared the result of 6th Swachh Survekshan survey today, conducted in the year 2021 in which 4320 cities have participated.
The Swachh Amrit Mahotsav award ceremony was held at Vigyan Bhawan in Delhi today in which awards have been given to approximately 300 cities in various categories.
NDMC is continuously striving to establish excellence in service standards and aims to provide world-class civic amenities to its residents. In this endeavour, NDMC in association with MoUHA has made the event Zero garbage event today in New Delhi.
