New Delhi:At a glittering ceremony held on 1st October 2022, during the 75th Swachh Amrit Mahotsav 2021, organized by the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs (MoHUA), Government of India at Talkatora Indoor Stadium, New Delhi, New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC) has been awarded Clean Small City in the population category of 1-3 lakh in the Swachh Survekshan 2022, along with a 5 Star Garbage Free City Ranking and Water Plus Certified City.
This award is in alignment with “Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi’s vision of a Garbage Free India under Swachh Bharat Mission-Urban 2.0. The theme of 7th edition of Swachh Survekshan was based on ‘People First’ approach.
The awards were handed over by Hon’ble President of India, Smt. Droupadi Murmu and Hon’ble Minister of MOUHA Shri Hardeep Singh Puri at the ceremony attended by numerous dignitaries, including Union Minister of State Shri – Kaushal Kishore, various Urban Development Ministers from States, Mayors, Mission Directors, Municipal Commissioners and City Officials from various States and Union Territories across the country.
On behalf of NDMC, the award was received by Chairperson – Shri Bhupinder S. Bhalla, Secretary – Shri Vikram Singh Malik, Medical Officer Health – Dr Ramesh Kumar and CMO – Dr Shakuntala Shrivastava.
The award is a recognition of NDMC’s continued efforts to establish excellence in service standards and provide world-class civic amenities to its residents.
Congratulating the employees of NDMC in general and safai sevaks in particular, the Chairperson said that the credit for getting the Swachhta awards and ranking goes to the hard work of all NDMC employees particularly the Health Department.
NDMC also expresses its gratitude to the residents and visitors to NDMC area for making it the cleanest capital city.
