New Delhi: New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC)- Chairman, Shri Amit Yadav gave away the prizes to the winners of the Annual Sports Meet 2024 for all 43 NDMC Schools in a function at Talkatora Cricket Ground, New Delhi in the presence of Secretary, NDMC Shri Krishna Mohan Uppu today.
On the occasion, Chairman, NDMC – Shri Yadav distributed 300 medals to the winning students and 60 trophies to the schools expressing his appreciation for the dedicated NDMC Education Team.
In his address, Chairman- NDMC, Shri Yadav emphasized NDMC’s unwavering commitment to providing top-notch sports facilities and hiring coaches across various games. He underscored the organization’s dedication to nurturing the talents of each student, ensuring they shine in their respective fields of specialization and able to participate in State , Regional and National level Tournaments.
NDMC Annual Schools’ Sports Meet 2024, starting from February 06, not only celebrated sportsmanship but also highlighted the rich cultural diversity within the NDMC school community. It served as a platform to unite students in the spirit of healthy competition, fostering an environment that encourages both athletic and cultural excellence.
Chairperson-NDMC, Shri Yadav in his address stressed upon the sports activities for the students to provide the health and fitness opportunity in their daily routine life along with academic curriculum. He also informed that out of the 2500 students of 42 schools who have participated in the sports event this year in different games, 300 students were given the prizes for their first, second and third positions and 60 coveted trophies for schools were awarded today in the ceremony.
The event witnessed the spirited participation of participated 2500 students across various disciplines, showcasing their prowess in events such as the 100 meters, 200 meters, 400 meters, 100Mtr. X 4 Relay Race, Shot put, Discus throw, and long jump. Out of the commendable participants, a total of 502 students qualified for the final sports meet where the Talkatora Cricket Stadium transformed into a battleground of talent and athleticism.
Athletes from all 43 schools participated in an impressive March Past, displaying discipline and unity. The event also featured a vibrant cultural program, adding a colorful touch to the overall celebration and showcasing the diverse talents of the NDMC school community.
Fun Races engaged the primary class students, providing a joyful start to the proceedings, while junior class students demonstrated their excellence in track and field events, leaving the audience awe-struck.
