NDMC organises painting/drawing competition on the theme of “Blooming Gardens of NDMC” to celebrate Azaadi ka Amrit Mahotsav.

New Delhi: As a part of Celebration of 75 years of India’s Independence as “Azaadi ka Amrit Mahotsav”, New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC)  organised drawing/painting competition on the theme of “Blooming Gardens of NDMC” for the school children and the morning walkers in Lodhi Garden New Delhi, today morning.

The event created a festive look at Lodhi Garden Lawns attracting large number of morning walkers from all walks of life who keenly watched the young painters painting on their canvas creating some wonderful  paintings out of their imagination on the theme “Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav” and “Blooming Gardens of NDMC”.

The event was graced by Smt. Meenakshi Lekhi,  Minister of State for Culture & External Affairs, Govt of India, Chairman, NDMC, Shri Dharmendra and Secretary NDMC, Smt. Isha Khosla and Senior Officials, teachers and parents.

Inaugurating the event, Smt. Meenakshi Lekhi, Minister of State for Culture & External Affairs, Govt of India highlighted the spirit of celebrating “Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav” and said that children can imagine and draw the freedom movement, achievements during last 75 years and also future of nation in next 75 year. She motivated children and morning walkers to paint the blooming gardens of New Delhi area which is also an achievement to walk freely and breathe in a healthy environment.

The award ceremony was graced by the Chairman, NDMC, Shri Dharmendra and Secretary NDMC, Smt. Isha Khosla. They gave away the prizes to the winners of the best paintings and blessed the children.

Blessing the children, Chairman NDMC, Shri Dharmendra stated that after the long duration of pandemic restrictions, this competition was organised in green lush lawns of Lodhi Garden to provide natural environment for imagination and creativity of children. He said that such types of events will be organised by NDMC in other parks/gardens of New Delhi. This was the “Zero Waste Event” under the Swachh Bharat Mission.

A total 147 of school children and 17 morning walker participated in the event. Five winners were selected by the Panel of Judges in each category and all the winners were given prizes. All participants were provided certificate of participation in the competition. The winners of the first and the second group i.e. school children were given certificates of participation and prizes comprising school bags and drawing kits. The winners of morning walker category were honoured with memento and Certificate of participation.

The Competition was organised in Lodhi Garden to create awareness about nature, greenery and environment and also showcase the blooming flowers of the Lodhi Garden which is being widely appreciated by all including media.
