NEW DELHI: Union Health Minister Harsh Vardhan on Thursday emphasized that no agreement has been reached on scientific and regulatory norms related to the Covid-19 vaccine. The claim of the Health Minister is important at this time, as both the safety and efficacy of the vaccine (vaccine) are being questioned.
Harsh Vardhan, addressing a high-level inter-ministerial meeting of the World Bank, said, “With stringent oversight, we are confident that no agreement has been reached on scientific and regulatory norms ranging from trial safety to vaccine effectiveness.”
He assured that the vaccine would be available in the coming few weeks and the vaccination process would start as soon as it was approved by the regulatory agency, the Drugs Controller General of India.
Eight candidates for the COVID-19 vaccine are in various stages of clinical trials and may be ready for authorization in the near future, including three indigenous vaccines.
