New Delhi | In a cabinet meeting chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday, it has been decided to give a Production Linked Incentive (PLI) of 18,100 crores to encourage the manufacture of battery storage in the country. This decision of the government will reduce the import of battery equipment and start manufacturing in the country. With this decision, it will be easy to manufacture batteries ranging from heavy electric vehicles to scooty in the country. Union Information and Broadcasting Minister Prakash Javadekar gave information about the decision taken in the cabinet through a press conference. He told that today the Union Cabinet has taken a big decision to make the dream of Make in India. Everyone knows how much battery storage is important. Today, many things are stuck due to a lack of battery storage.
Prakash Javadekar said that India imports 20 thousand crores of battery equipment from outside. In such a situation, the government has now declared Production Linked Incentive (PLI), due to which the import will be reduced. Advanced Chemistry Cell (ACC) battery storage will be manufactured in India. This will give a boost to electrical vehicles, electrical mobility in the country. Prakash Javadekar said that long-lasting batteries and fast charging batteries are needed today.
