New Delhi, May 9. The Foreign Ministry said on Friday that Pakistan tried to infiltrate and carry out heavy firing on the LoC, in response to which India has taken precise action with restraint. In a press briefing organized by the Ministry of External Affairs, Colonel Sophia Qureshi informed that Pakistan tried to target 36 places in border areas like Tangdhar, Uri and Udhampur. Pakistan attacked with about 300 to 400 drones.
He said that initial investigation has also revealed that drones manufactured in Turkey were used in this attack. The Indian Air Force retaliated immediately and completely destroyed Pakistan’s surveillance radar system in a drone counter attack.
Colonel Qureshi clarified that in this operation, the Indian Army exercised extreme restraint and took special care to ensure that there was no harm to the common citizens. He said that instead of closing its airspace, Pakistan carried out military attacks under the cover of civilian aircraft, which is against international security standards.
During the briefing, it was told that at the time of the attack, passenger planes were flying in big cities like Karachi and Lahore, which endangered many innocent lives.
Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri termed this action of Pakistan as a “provocative military strategy” and said that the shelling in Tangdhar, Uri, Poonch, Rajouri, Akhnoor and Udhampur caused some damage to the Indian security forces, but Pakistan has suffered heavy military losses in India’s retaliation.
He also said that keeping its airspace open despite Pakistan’s failed attempts of drone attacks is not only irresponsible but also a serious threat to the safety of international flights. He accused Pakistan of using civilian aircraft as a military shield and called it a violation of international rules.
He said the aim of Pakistan’s attack was to collect information about the Indian defence system, which was foiled.
