PM Modi congratulates Donald Trump on becoming the 47th President of America

New Delhi, January 20 . Donald Trump was sworn in as the 47th President of the United States on Sunday. He became the 45th President of the country in 2017, but lost the elections held in 2020. Prime Minister Narendra Modi congratulated him on becoming President again.

PM Modi wrote in his post on social media platform X, “Congratulations to my dear friend President Donald Trump on his historic swearing-in as the 47th President of the United States! I look forward to working together once again, benefiting both countries and shaping a better future for the world. Best wishes for a successful tenure ahead!”

Let us tell you that heads of state and big leaders of many countries were present at Trump’s swearing-in ceremony. External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar represented India.

US Supreme Court Chief Justice John Roberts administered the oath to him at the Capitol Rotunda. Earlier, Vice President-elect J.D. Vance also took the oath of office. Usually the US President takes oath on the steps of the Capitol, but in view of the severe cold there, the swearing-in ceremony, prayer and speech were organized in the Rotunda this time.

Apart from outgoing President Joe Biden and his family members, outgoing Vice President Kamala Harris, former President Barack Obama, his wife Michelle Obama and their family members, former President Bill Clinton and his wife Hillary Clinton, former President George Bush Jr. and his wife Lara Bush also attended the swearing-in ceremony. Apart from all the senior politicians of the country, top military and intelligence department officials were also present.

The Joint Congressional Committee on Inaugural Ceremonies (JCCIC) last month announced “Our Enduring Democracy: A Constitutional Promise” as the theme for the 60th Inaugural Ceremony.
