New Delhi, June 3 . The situation remains serious due to floods in the northeastern states. Meanwhile, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday spoke to several Chief Ministers of the northeastern states on the situation arising due to the floods. He also assured all possible help from the central government.
According to the information, Prime Minister Modi spoke to Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, Sikkim Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang and Manipur Governor Ajay Bhalla. During this, he also inquired about the situation arising due to heavy rains and floods. The Prime Minister assured them of all possible help and support.
Earlier on Monday, BJP National President and Union Minister J.P. Nadda expressed deep concern over the continuous heavy rains in many parts of the northeastern states.
J.P. Nadda expressed condolences to the affected people through a post on social media platform X and directed BJP’s state units and workers to actively participate in relief work.
Nadda wrote in his post, “I am very concerned for the people affected by the continuous heavy rains in parts of the northeastern states. I have directed the BJP state units and workers to provide all possible assistance as per the guidelines issued. I urge everyone in the affected areas to take necessary precautions, avoid unnecessary travel and follow the advice of local authorities.”
Last Sunday, Union Home Minister Amit Shah spoke to the Chief Ministers of Assam (Himanta Biswa Sarma), Arunachal Pradesh (Pema Khandu) and Sikkim (Prem Singh Tamang) and the Governor of Manipur (Ajay Kumar Bhalla) over the phone and inquired about the flood situation.
According to officials in various northeastern states, of the 34 deaths caused by rains and floods since May 29, at least 10 people were killed in Assam, followed by nine in Arunachal Pradesh, six each in Meghalaya and Mizoram, two in Tripura and one in Nagaland.
Disaster management officials in the northeastern states said the deaths were due to drowning, landslides and waterlogging.
