Satyendra Jain’s troubles increased, Home Ministry sought approval from the President to prosecute

New Delhi, February 14 The troubles of Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader and former Delhi government minister Satyendra Jain seem to be increasing. The Union Home Ministry on Friday sought approval from the President to prosecute Satyendra Jain in the court under Section 218 of the Indian Civil Security Code, 2023.

According to the information, on the basis of the material received from the Enforcement Directorate (ED), sufficient evidence has been found to prosecute Satyendra Jain in this case.

Satyendra Jain was arrested by the ED on 30 May 2022 in a money laundering case. Satyendra Jain was accused of allegedly laundering Rs 16.39 crore through fake companies in 2015-2016. After this he was arrested and sent to Tihar Jail.

At the same time, on October 18, a Delhi court granted bail to Satyendra Jain. While granting him bail, the court had mentioned ‘delay in trial’ and ‘long imprisonment’.

On the other hand, the ED opposed Jain’s bail in the court and said that if he was granted bail, he could influence the witnesses related to the case.

Aam Aadmi Party leaders welcomed the court’s decision and called it a victory of truth and defeat of BJP’s conspiracy.

However, earlier on 26 May 2023, Satyendra Jain was granted interim bail on medical grounds as he had undergone a spinal operation.

Satyendra Jain had also contested the recently concluded Delhi Assembly elections. The party had fielded him from Shakur Basti seat, but he had to face defeat from Bharatiya Janata Party candidate Karnail Singh.

According to the Election Commission, Karnail Singh got a total of 56,869 votes, while Satyendra Jain was reduced to 35,871 votes. Meanwhile, Congress candidate Satish Kumar Luthra got just 5,784 votes.
