Two cabin crew members from Manipur killed in Air India plane crash

Imphal: An Air India plane crashed in Ahmedabad, Gujarat on Wednesday, killing several people. Two cabin crew members from Manipur also died in this accident. The deceased have been identified as Kongralaithpam Nganthoi Sharma, resident of Thoubal Awang Leikai in Thoubal district and Singson Lamnunthem of Churachandpur district. A wave of mourning has spread in Manipur since the news of this tragic incident.

Nganthoi was working as a cabin crew member in Air India for the last one and a half years. Nganthoi, the middle of the three sisters, had sent a message to her sister at around 11:38 am just before the accident. In the message, she wrote, “I am going to London. In a few minutes, we will take off. We will not be able to talk for some time.” This message proved to be her last message.

As soon as the news of the accident was received, his family members living in Manipur were deeply shocked. There is an atmosphere of mourning in Nganthoi’s family and the local community. Okram Surjakumar, MLA of Khangabok Assembly constituency, on Thursday visited Nganthoi’s residence in Thoubal Awang Leikai and met the family. He shared the family’s grief and expressed his deep condolences. The MLA said, “This is an irreparable loss for Manipur. Nganthoi was a promising young woman who had achieved this position through her hard work. We are with her family in this difficult time.”

An investigation into the cause of the accident has begun. According to preliminary information, the plane took off from Ahmedabad airport, but it crashed shortly after. Official confirmation of how many people lost their lives in the accident is yet to be made. Air India has expressed deep grief over the incident and assured all possible assistance to the families of the deceased.

It is being told that the plane crashed into the hostel of BJ Medical College located next to the Civil Hospital in Ahmedabad. The incident occurred at lunch time, when the mess area of ​​the hostel was packed with medical students.
