On the announcement of the merger of Praspa with SP, Shivpal said, “My car will now have the SP flag. I was waiting for the right time. The demand of the family and the public has now been fulfilled.” He said that SP’s victory in the Mainpuri poll is a strong message for BJP.
Shivpal Singh Yadav has been instrumental in the victory of Dimple Yadav in Mainpuri. He held several meetings and appealed to the public to make daughter-in-law Dimple win. Dimple Yadav has won by more than two lakh votes.
After the demise of Samajwadi Party founder Mulayam Singh Yadav, the gulf between Shivpal and Akhilesh started narrowing. When SP fielded Dimple from the Mainpuri Lok Sabha seat that fell vacant after Mulayam’s death, Akhilesh sought support from uncle Shivpal as well. Shivpal campaigned for his daughter-in-law during the Mainpuri bypoll. When the counting of votes started today, Dimple Yadav got a big lead from the Jaswant Nagar assembly constituency. After this, Shivpal also thanked the public.
It is to be known that infighting had started in the Samajwadi Party before the 2017 assembly elections and party president Akhilesh Yadav had shown Shivpal Singh the way out of the party. After this, Shivpal Singh Yadav formed the Progressive Samajwadi Party. After a long cold war, both contested together once in the 2022 assembly elections. Uncle got only one seat, SP had to face defeat.
