We will fight from the assembly to the streets to save the slums: Atishi

New Delhi, July 12 . The Aam Aadmi Party has accused the Delhi government of preparing to demolish the slums of Nangli Dairy located in Matiala assembly.

Leader of Opposition of AAP Atishi said that after demolishing Madrasi Camp, Jailerwala Bagh, Bhoomiheen Camp, the Delhi government has now set its eyes on the slums of Nangli Dairy. The BJP’s MCD has put up notices in the slums and has warned to run a bulldozer on the slums if the papers are not shown within five days.

She said that before the elections, BJP leaders had stayed overnight in these slums and had given cards of houses wherever there was a slum. But after coming to power, the BJP is continuously demolishing the slums of the poor. The Aam Aadmi Party stands with these poor people. We will fight from the assembly to the streets to save the slums.

Atishi said that before the elections, BJP leaders visited different slums of Delhi. They ate food with the slum dwellers, played Ludo-Carom with the children and gave ‘Jahan Jhuggy Wahin Makaan’ cards to the slum dwellers. Prime Minister Narendra Modi repeatedly said that not a single slum will be demolished in Delhi. But as soon as the elections were over, the new government in Delhi started demolishing the houses of the poor one after the other.

Atishi said that after demolishing the slums of Madrasi Camp, Jailerwala Bagh, Wazirpur, Bhoomiheen Camp, now the BJP government is preparing to demolish the JJ Camp of Nangli Dairy. The slum dwellers have been told that they are encroaching and if they do not submit their papers within five days, the slums will be demolished.

Atishi said that the Delhi government is not going to give ‘Jahan Jhuggy Wahin Makaan’, rather it has been decided that grounds will be made where there are slums. That is why all the slums in Delhi are being demolished one by one.

Aatishi said that Aam Aadmi Party stands with the poor of Delhi. It also stands with the residents of Nangli Dairy JJ Cluster. If there is a need to fight in the court, MCD, Delhi Assembly or on the streets, then Aam Aadmi Party will fight and will not let the Delhi government demolish these slums.
