New Delhi| Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Sunday asked the ruling Trinamool Congress of the state who had ordered the phone tapping of BJP leaders. Earlier, the Trinamool Congress had issued a phone conversation between BJP leaders Mukul Roy and Shishir Bajoria. Addressing a press conference at his residence here, he said, “What our leaders talked about was presented in writing to the Election Commission. But the question is who did it (tapping)? Who did the tapping?” permitted to?”
Shah said that when the Model Code of Conduct comes into force, any tapping should be done with the permission of the poll panel.
He said, “Was permission taken from the Election Commission? The tapping was done without the permission of the Election Commission?”
The minister also said that the BJP would win 26 out of 30 seats in West Bengal and 37 out of 47 seats in Assam, where the first phase of the assembly elections was held on Saturday.
“Based on the discussion and feedback received from booth level activists and leaders, I can say with confidence that we are winning 26 out of 30 seats in the first phase of voting in West Bengal,” Shah said.
He said, “People in West Bengal (Mamata Banerjee) are unhappy with the government. They voted for change in 2011, but nothing has changed. The BJP is committed to ‘Sonar Bangla’ under the leadership of the Prime Minister.”
Shah also claimed that women voted in favor of his party.
“People in West Bengal voted against the politics of appeasement, infiltration, corruption and misrule,” he said.
He also said that for the first time on Saturday, violence-free voting took place in West Bengal.
Shah said, “After many years, there have been no incidents of violence. No bombs were fired or bullets were fired. I thank the Election Commission of India for conducting peaceful elections.”
In Assam, people voted for the BJP for development and commitment to a flood-free state, claiming that the BJP would win 37 out of 47 seats in Assam.
He thanked the voters of both states for voting for the BJP.
