To vagabond robbers, who used to target visitors from other states in delhi at isbt/railway station, nabbed by pp red fort, ps kotwali team.

They robbed the victim, (who is specially abled with both legs and walk with his hands), who was returning uttarkhand from rajasthan, by boarding him in their e-rickshaw and took him to isolated area.

The robbed mobile phone and e-rickshaw used in the crime were recovered

The complainant Mr Sandeep r/o Chanderpuri Kalan, District Haridwar, Uttrakhand, age-26 years, (who is specially abled with both legs and hardly move with his hands), reported in his complaint that he was returning to his native place by train from one of his relative in Udaipur, Rajasthan via Delhi. On 14.01.2022 in the early morning, he reached Old Delhi Railway Station, Delhi. At about 07:30 AM, he hired an e-rickshaw from outside Old Delhi Railway Station to ISBT, Kashmiri Gate in which another person was already sitting with the driver. After reaching Ring Road, the driver stopped the e-rickshaw and told him that the rickshaw’s battery has run out, so it will not be able to run anymore and by saying this, they dropped him from the rickshaw.

After getting off the e-rickshaw, the complainant took out his mobile phone to see the time. Suddenly, the alleged persons snatched his mobile phone and escaped from the spot on the e-rickshaw. He could not chase them because of disability. Then he reached Golden Jubli Park Gate No. 2 and told the story to a guard, who did a PCR call and approached police. Immediately, a case vide FIR No. 49/22, dated 14.01.2022 was registered at PS Kotwali and investigation was taken up.

In view of the seriousness of the offence, promptly a team led by SI Pushpendra (I/c PP Red Fort), comprising of SI Yogesh, HC Ashutosh, Ct Puran, Ct Giriraj and Ct Amit was constituted to nab the culprits, under the close supervision of Inspr. Ved Prakash, SHO/PS Kotwali and guidance of Sh. Akshat Kaushal, ACP/Kotwali.

The police team conducted technical investigation and the CCTV footage of all the cameras installed at the route (from ODRS to Ring Road) were procured and shown to the victim, who pointed out two boys sitting on an e-rickshaw as suspects. Accordingly, the photograph of the suspects was extracted from the CCTV footage and further investigation was conducted.

Thereafter, an exhaustive search was carried out and not a single rickshaw puller was let be passed on that route without asking him about the photograph of the suspects. The extensive inquiry bore fruits, when one rickshaw puller revealed that one of the suspects seen in the photograph could be a boy, who lives in Loni.

Immediately, the team reached Loni and there too, the boys were searched meticulously by showing their photograph keeping in mind the maintenance of secrecy. Eventually, a person identified one of the suspects as Asif.

Accordingly, the team conducted raid at Vijay Park Loni, where both the accused persons were apprehended. Both were identified as Asif, age-23 years and Shamim, age-40 years and the robbed mobile phone was recovered from their possession along with the e-rickshaw used in crime.

During interrogation, both the accused persons confessed about committing robbery with the complainant in present case. On the day of incident i.e. 14.01.2022 in morning hours, they boarded the complainant in their e-Rickshaw (which they take on rent from Loni area and run the same at ISBT and ODRS area) from Old Delhi Railway Station and after moving in the Ring Road they turn the e-Rickshaw to Golden Jubilee Park side and stopped the same in lonely area. There they robbed the mobile phone from victim and escaped from the spot.  Both are vagabond and drug addicts.

One robbed mobile phone, make Realme and One e-Rickshaw used in the commission of a crime recovered. Further interrogation and investigation is going on.
