New Delhi, . India on Monday declared a day of state mourning on May 21 in honor of Iranian President Seyyed Ebrahim Raisi and the country’s Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian. Both the leaders died in a helicopter crash on Sunday.
“On the day of mourning (Tuesday), the national flag will remain at half-mast on all buildings where it is regularly flown and there will be no official entertainment program on that day,” a statement issued by the Home Ministry said.
Raisi and Abdullahian were among nine people who died when their helicopter crashed in Iran’s mountainous northwest. The accident occurred when they were returning from the Azerbaijan border after flagging off joint projects in the region.
