New Delhi| Bharatiya Kisan Union (BKU) leader Rakesh Tikait on Wednesday lauded the decision of a Delhi court which said that the law of treason cannot be used to stop protesters’ voices. Tikait said that the court’s decision on the sedition law is absolutely correct.
On Tuesday, a Delhi court found that a treason law cannot “quell dissent in the name of nudging miscreants” while granting bail to a man accused of posting fake videos on Facebook for protesting farmers.
Additional Sessions Judge Dharmendra Rana said that the sedition law cannot be enforced if incitement is not resorted to creating disorder, disturb public peace, or spread violence.
Tikait said that guns are being used to suppress the voice of farmers. The peasants’ movement is an ideological movement.
He said that this movement has arisen for a just cause and it cannot be shaken by fear of guns. This fight is a fight for the rights of farmers. He further said that whoever is writing in favor of farmers is being arrested.
