Ahmed Patel was born on 21 August 1949 (age 71 years; at the time of death), in Delhi. He was born to Mohammed Ishikji Patel and Hawaben Mohammedbhai in the western Indian state of Gujarat.
Education
Ahmed Patel did his bachelor’s degree from Bharuch’s Jayendra Puri Arts and Science College. He was an active sportsman during his early days and captained for his college cricket and badminton tournaments. It was during his college days that he got involved in public life by assisting his father in the cooperative bank movement.
In the year 1976, Ahmed Patel got married to Memoona Ahmed Patel. They both have a daughter and a son. His son’s name is Faisal Patel and his daughter’s name is Mumtaz Patel.
Death Reason or Cause
Patel died on 25 November 2020 due to multiple organ failures stemming from COVID-19. He was admitted to the Medanta Hospital and was in the ICU upon being diagnosed with COVID-19.

Political Career
In 1977, in the first general elections after the Emergency, Ahmed Patel was given a Congress ticket from the Bharuch Lok Sabha constituency. In that election he was one of the 153 parliamentarians elected on a Congress ticket, which at that point of time turned out to the party’s worst performance since independence.
During the UPA government regime between 2004 and 2014, Ahmed Patel was one of its chief troubleshooters and coordinators between the government and party. Apart from politics, he is extensively involved in philanthropic and charitable activities, particularly in his home district of Bharuch.
