BCCI postpones IPL by a week

New Delhi, May 9. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has decided to postpone the remaining matches of the ongoing IPL 2025 for a week with immediate effect. Further information on the new schedule and venues of the tournament will be given in due course after a comprehensive assessment of the situation in consultation with the relevant authorities and stakeholders.

BCCI Secretary Devjit Saikia said in a statement on Friday, “The decision was taken by the IPL Governing Council after due consultation with all key stakeholders after most of the franchises expressed the concerns and sentiments of their players as well as the views of the broadcaster, sponsors and fans. The BCCI has full confidence in the strength and preparedness of our armed forces, the Board deemed it appropriate to act in the collective interest of all stakeholders. ”

Saikia said, “At this critical juncture, the BCCI stands firmly with the country. We express our solidarity with the Government of India, the armed forces and the people of our country. The Board salutes the bravery, courage and selfless service of our Armed Forces whose valiant efforts under ‘Operation Sindoor’ continue to protect and inspire the nation as they provide a firm response to the recent terrorist attack and unwarranted aggression by the armed forces of Pakistan.

He said cricket remains a national passion but nothing is more important than the nation and its sovereignty, integrity and security of our country. The BCCI is firmly committed to supporting all efforts that safeguard India and will always maintain its decisions are in the best interest of the nation.
