CM Himanta Biswa Sarma spoke on Nalbari incident, dignity of women is most important

Dispur, September 16 : After the matter of searching the private parts of a female candidate under the direct recruitment examination in Nalbari district of Assam gained momentum, Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma took cognizance and directed the DGP of Assam to issue standard operating procedures (SOP) for the respect of women in the state examinations.

In a post on social media platform X, he wrote, “I spoke to the DGP of Assam on this matter and directed him to investigate the incident in which a girl student has alleged that a woman constable searched her private parts before entering the examination hall. For me, the dignity and respect of our mothers and sisters is most important. There can be no compromise on this.” He further wrote, “The DGP also informed me about another incident in North Lakhimpur. In this incident, cheating material was recovered from the undergarments of a girl student on the same day. Following this, we have two important tasks before us. First, to conduct the Assam Direct Recruitment Examination (ADRE) with honesty and transparency.

“Second, we must ensure that the decency and dignity of our women candidates is maintained at all times. Therefore, a proper SOP should be developed taking into account the relevant judgments of the Hon’ble Courts and the guidelines of the Women’s Commission regarding the conduct of frisking related to women. This should be circulated to every examination centre before the next round of examination. We are indebted to our young generation, and this cannot be compromised under any circumstances.”

Let us tell you that a female candidate who came to appear in the Direct Recruitment Examination (ADRE) in Assam claimed that the employees touched her private parts during the examination before the examination. The woman said that she did not know why all this was being done, but the way this examination was done was extremely objectionable. They put their hands on the lower part of the body and examined by touching the private parts.
