Vadodara| Communal clashes broke out in Vadodara on Diwali night and till Tuesday morning, the police have arrested at least a dozen rioters while the process of identifying them is on. Clashes broke out in the city’s Panigate area on Monday night.
Addressing the local media, Vadodara Deputy Commissioner of Police Yashpal Jaganiya said, “The exact cause of the violence is yet to be ascertained. As soon as the police came to know about the incident, personnel from across the city were sent to the spot and brought the situation under control.” A petrol bomb was hurled at the police from the roof of the house, one person has been arrested in this connection.”
Officials said the street lights were switched off before the clash broke out, following which rioters from both sides started pelting stones.
According to a local resident, a clash broke out over the bursting of crackers near a college.
