Kamala Harris took the Covid-19 vaccine

WASHINGTON| Kamala Harris, who was elected to the US vice-presidency, has been given the first dose of the Moderna vaccine to protect against novel coronaviruses. According to the Biden-Harris Transition Team, Harris was vaccinated on Tuesday by Patricia Cummings, clinical nurse manager at United Medical Center.

Harris said in a tweet late Tuesday, “Today I received the COVID-19 vaccine. I am incredibly grateful to our frontline health care staff, scientists and researchers who made this moment possible.”

He further wrote, “When you are able to take the vaccine, do take it. It is about saving lives.”

Harris’ vaccination was broadcast live on TV, just a week before elected President Joe Biden also took the vaccine.

After receiving the first dose, Harris said she wanted to “encourage everyone to take the vaccine. It’s relatively painless. It actually happened very quickly. It’s safe.”

As CNN reported, the selected Vice President also confirmed that her husband Doug Amhoff will receive the first dose of the Moderna vaccine on Tuesday.

He said, “I want to remind people that the right place in your community is where you can get the vaccine, where you will get the vaccine, the people you know, people who would otherwise be working in the same hospital Are where your children were born. ”

The US Food and Drug Administration has given the Emergency Use Authority (EUA) for two COVID-19 vaccines, one of which is Pfizer / BioNotech and one is Moderna.

Both vaccines are about 95 percent effective and both require two doses.

At the same time, President Donald Trump, who was infected with the virus in October, has not yet been vaccinated.
