New Delhi:6,500 new cases have been reported in Delhi in the last 24 hours, the lowest since April 7, with 5,506 cases reported a day in the city. Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal said on Saturday, “The positivity rate has continued to show a sharp decline in the proportion of samples tested to 11 percent. The
capital has been witnessing positive cases daily and a sharp drop in positivity rates for almost two weeks.”
On April 20, during the peak of the second wave of the Covid epidemic, Delhi’s daily positive cases were 28,395, while the highest positivity rate was 36 percent on April 22.
On Friday, 8,506 cases were registered in the city in a day, which for the first time after April 10, Delhi’s daily case dropped below 10 thousand. On Thursday, 10,489 new cases were registered. Earlier, the number of cases was 13,287 on Wednesday, 12,481 on Tuesday, 12,651 on Monday and 13,336 on Sunday.
Similarly, there has been a decline in daily positivity rates in the city for the past few days. On Friday, Delhi’s positivity rate was reported to be 12.40 percent. Earlier, the positive rate was recorded at 14.24 percent on Thursday, 17.03 percent on Wednesday, 17.76 percent on Tuesday, 19.10 percent on Monday and 21.67 percent on Sunday.
Kejriwal said on Saturday that in the last 15 days, the Delhi government has installed around 1000 new ICU beds for Kovid patients. Kejriwal said, “I would like to thank all the medical staff, health officials, engineers and others who have added 1,000 new ICU beds in the last 15 days, who have worked tirelessly to set up new Covid care centers.”
