New Delhi | Former Congress President Rahul Gandhi on Friday hit out at the Narendra Modi government over the hike in fuel prices and said the condition of the government is such that it becomes big news if the prices are not increased. Rahul Gandhi, Congress’s Lok Sabha MP from Wayanad in Kerala, said in a tweet in Hindi, “The development of the Modi government is such that if someday the prices of petrol and diesel do not increase then it becomes big news.”
His statement has come on the issue of a hike in fuel prices across the country.
Petrol prices were hiked by 26-27 paise on Friday, while diesel prices were hiked by 28-30 paise, taking fuel prices to record highs in metros.
In many states, the price of petrol has crossed Rs 100 per liter while diesel is selling more than Rs 90 per liter.
Congress has been critical of the Center over the hike in fuel prices over the past several months.
