The government will bear the cost of Covid patients in private hospitals in Tamil Nadu

Chennai | Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin said on Friday that his government would bear all the expenses of Covid patients in private hospitals. The Chief Minister said in an order, the state health insurance cover will bear the cost of treatment of Covid in private hospitals.

Stalin issued another order in which each rice cardholder from Tamil Nadu would give Rs 2,000.

There are about 2.07 crore rice cardholders in the state.

“The chief minister had ordered Rs 2,000 each to 2.07 crore rice holders at a cost of Rs 4,153.39 crore,” an official statement said.

Stalin also signed an order to reduce the price of the public sector ‘Aavin’ milk brand by Rs 3 per liter.

In addition, an order allowing women to travel in ordinary town buses was also issued.

“The government will bear the additional expenditure of Rs 1,200 crore as subsidy to the transport corporations,” the statement said.

Stalin also issued an order to constitute a new department ‘Chief Minister in your constituency’.

An IAS officer will be deployed to run the department.

After taking the oath of office, Stalin met his mother Dayalu Ammal, his step-mother Rajati Ammal and visited the tomb of his father Kalaignar Karunanidhi and DMK’s founding leader and former Chief Minister CN Annadurai.

He also laid a wreath at the memorial of social reformer EV Ramasamy Periyar at Vipiri’s ‘Periyar Thidal’.
