WCD Minister Rajendra Pal Gautam cracks down on irregularities in ration distribution through Anganwadis

New Delhi: WCD Minister Shri Rajendra Pal Gautam today held an important meeting on ICDS scheme with the Secretary, Director and other officials of the department of Women and Child development. Shri Rajendra Pal Gautam had personally inspected the ration distribution under the ICDS in various constituencies for four consecutive days. Irregularities in ration distribution found in almost all places. The purpose of meeting was to take decisions on the same.
To prevent and monitor these irregularities, Standard Operating Procedures were formed and approved in the meeting.  It was been decided that under SNF scheme, Take-Home ration shall be delivered to the beneficiaries at their doorsteps through respective anganwadi centers for the period of 13 days, on 19/06/2020, 20/06/2020 and 22/06/2020.
“This is very disappointing. How will malnutrition end, if contractor and officers devours the ration.  Ration is not being given in prescribed amounts in many areas.  I myself went door-to-door with my team for four consecutive days to inspect the rations given by the Anganwadi Centers, almost everywhere the irregularities were found.  People working in this department should be sensitive, because those who have got less in life, the government is committed to give some relief and support to them. “Rajendra Pal Gautam
To prevent all these anomalies, the formation of ward level monitoring committees having ten members each, is in process. These committees will monitor the quantity, quality, time period of the distribution, as well as monitoring and better implementation of the ICDS scheme. They will send the report to the Chief Minister Shri Arvind Kejriwal, Women and Child Development Minister, Secretary, Director of the department.
Three Anganwadi workers found guilty have been terminated, two supervisors suspended, and some CDPOs were given show cause notice. Two Anganwadi Centers were sealed in Revla Khanpur, Matiala Constituency and the anganwadi register has been taken into custody by the Secretary.
Under the ICDS Scheme, millions of pregnant women and children in Delhi get ration.  As per the scheme, 1300 grams of oatmeal, 260 grams of black gram (raw), 130 grams of jaggery and 130 grams of roasted black gram is distributed to the children for 13 days.
For pregnant women, 1690 grams of oatmeal, 260 grams of black gram (raw), 130 grams of jaggery and 130 grams of roasted black gram is distributed.
The Government of Delhi is helping people in this epidemic, as much as possible and in such a situation ration reaching in less quantity than the prescribed limit, is a serious and disappointing matter. “Rajendra Pal Gautam.
