New Delhi | Delhi Police have arrested two persons for the murder of a Haryanvi singer who went missing on May 11. An official gave this information on Tuesday. The accused have been identified as Rohit and Anil. The mutilated body of the singer, identified as Sangeeta alias Divya (29), was found buried on the side of a road in Haryana’s Meham.
Shankar Chaudhary, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Dwarka), said that we had received a complaint on May 14 from the parents of the victim Sangeeta that their daughter has gone missing. After that, we started our investigation.
During the investigation, the police found two suspects Rohit and Anil. He was later arrested on 22 May. It was learned that the accused had hatched a conspiracy to kill the woman and had called her on the pretext of making a music video.
The senior official said that one of the accused kidnapped her from Delhi, gave her narcotics and killed her on May 11. Later, both the accused buried him on the roadside in the area of Meham police station. He said that a team of Delhi Police is still in Mehm with the accused pair.
Initially, a case was registered under section 365 (kidnapping) and later charges of murder were added to it. A separate FIR has also been registered in Haryana’s Mehm police station under sections 302 and 201.
Both the accused are 20 years old and were friends of the deceased. He used to work in a finance company in Haryana. The parents of the deceased Sangeeta were informed after which they reached Meham. The police handed over the body to the family members after the post-mortem.
