Farmers’ organizations have called for ‘Bharat Bandh’ on 8 December after several rounds of talks with the central government failed. Meanwhile, the opposition Congress on Sunday said the party would support the proposed nationwide bandh against the three agricultural laws. The Congress also said that its leader Rahul Gandhi has been at the forefront of opposing these controversial laws by participating in signature campaigns and tractor rallies in Punjab and Haryana.
Congress spokesperson Pawan Khera said the Congress party supports the call for Bharat Bandh called by the farmers. It is clear that the BJP has committed fraud against the people. The BJP claimed that good days are coming, but the good days are only for a select few.
The next round of the sixth round between the farmer leaders and the Center is scheduled to be held in Delhi on 9 December, while the farmers are adamant on their demand to repeal the three agricultural laws enacted in September. However, the government has agreed to amend the law.
Since the government has not yet been able to satisfactorily address the demands of the farmers, the farmers have warned to intensify the movement to repeal the three laws.
