Delhi: People busy preparing for Roza, heavy shopping in the markets

New Delhi, March 1  The month of Ramadan of the Islamic calendar is starting from Sunday. The Muslim community is busy preparing for the first Roza. Shopping for dates and vermicelli is in full swing in the Jama Masjid area.

Shopkeepers say that people are coming from far and wide. Local people are also shopping. However, the effect of inflation is also visible on the sales, because the prices of goods have increased.

Farhan, who sells vermicelli, said that the prices of vermicelli have increased, because the prices of its goods have become expensive in the last few times. At the same time, dates have special importance at the time of Iftar and its sale has also increased. People make vermicelli before fasting and consume dates in Iftar in the evening.

At this time, there is a crowd of people in the Jama Masjid area to buy dates and vermicelli. Shopkeepers say that due to inflation, goods have become expensive for some time, but people are still coming to shop.

Customer Jisan told IANS, “We are very excited about the first Roza. We are all very happy. Children are also very happy. We have come to shop with our family. We will get new clothes for the children.”

Shopkeeper Fazle Karim said, “Our work goes on for 12 months of the year. We do not face any kind of problem. Now the demand for dates has also increased a lot compared to earlier. Sugar increases due to sweets. Due to this, the demand for dates is increasing among the people. Usually when the demand for dates increases, its price also increases. Dates come to India from Gulf countries.”
