New Delhi:A pioneering step towards a green and sustainable city, New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC) has introduced CNG fuel-based compactors for the collection and transportation of waste in its area.
The Chairperson-NDMC, Shri Dharmendra flagged off six new CNG-based compactors at Connaught Place, New Delhi today morning.
Launching the CNG Compactors, Shri Dharmendra informed that NDMC is a first civic body to introduce clean fuel-based eco-friendly garbage collection compactors in the New Delhi area. He said that it is a step towards reducing the air and noise pollution in the heart of the capital city.
NDMC had been operating diesel fuel-based compactors since long and has now switched over to CNG propelled compactors. These compactors build up on the Tata 1412 chassis having the capacity of 10 cubic Meter.
The CNG-based compactors have the latest proven technology and they burn clean fuel doing away with sulphur and particulate matter emission. It run quitter than diesel vehicle which results in less noise pollution. It is cheaper then diesel, leads to lower maintenance cost.
On the occasion, Senior Officers of NDMC, Representative of New Delhi Trader Association and Metrro Waste Handling Pvt. Ltd. along with health workers were present.
